If there’s a place that nails comfort food, Pies n’ Thighs is easily one of them. This is a small, welcoming spot that serves up Southern-style classics. Inside is warm, with brick walls, soft lighting, and big windows that let in plenty of natural light. The menu is simple but full of your standard comfort bites: chicken and waffles, biscuits, catfish, etc.

I started of course with a beer, because it felt right. For my main, I ordered the Catfish Box, which came with cornbread, pickles, and baked beans with burnt ends. The catfish was crispy and well-seasoned, though it came out very hot. The tartar sauce helped balance everything nicely.
The cornbread looked great but leaned a bit dry and dense. The coleslaw, on the other hand, was solid, and the baked beans were sweet, hearty, and comforting.
To finish, I went with an old fashioned donut, which was a simple, satisfying way to end the meal.
