Flattened Croissant

If you’ve ever seen these flattened croissants at your local cafe, you’d think: “wow, how could they ruin a good croissant” or “wait, they cost how much?”

You’d think for a croissant dipped in chocolate, you should only be paying $3-4 (+ the cost of your cold brew). But, when you see these for $6-7 each, it becomes a ripoff.

My version is just a cheap croissant from Costco ($0.50 each), rolled out thin and flat, dipped in melted chocolate chips and topped with Oreos.

If you’re craving something sweet and easy to make, grab a croissant and give this dessert a try.

Ingredients

For the Croissant:

  • 2 Costco croissants
  • 2 tbsp softened butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

For the Chocolate Toppings:

  • 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp matcha powder for the white chocolate version
  • Crushed Oreos for topping
Directions
  1. Take your Costco croissant and roll it out until it’s thin and flat.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk the soft butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Spread this mixture on the croissant on both sides.
  4. On a medium heat pan, place the croissant down and cook it until it’s crispy and golden. Flip over and repeat. It should be 2 minutes per side.
  5. Take out the croissant from the pan and set aside. In a small bowl, add your chocolate chip of choice and melt them.
  6. If you use a microwave, melt for 20 seconds at a time, stirring in between.
  7. If you use a double boiler, set a bottom pot to high heat, and boil water. Place a heat safe bowl (metal in most cases) on the pot, and add your chips. Slowly over time, mix the chocolate chips around to melt.
  8. Take the melted chocolate, and dip your cooked croissant into it.
  9. If you’re using white chocolate, mix in the matcha after it melts, and make sure to sift the matcha into the chocolate to prevent clumps.
  10. Place on a cooling rack, and while the melted chocolate is hot, sprinkle crushed Oreos (or sprinkles) and let cool until the chocolate hardens.
